How Important is the Analysis of FLL Game Field?

Author: Muyao Zhang

Earlier this year, in August, our team attended the FLL Season Kick-Off, at where we learnt from other teams that a great way to decide which missions to do and even which to give up on was to list an organised table, decide on whether each mission was a push, pull, collect, lift or deliver mission, and then figure out its compass position on the map.

Below is one from several years ago:

Throughout many previous seasons of FLL we attended, we’ve learnt multiple lessons on FLL Robot Game. After analysing the features of this year’s FLL game field, particularly the various types of missions (push, pull, twist, etc.), we’ve decided to change our robot design and attachments to successfully complete as many missions as possible. These features also have a massive impact on our robot’s route, as we aim to use one attachment for only one run (e.g. all push missions with a push attachment).

So, next maybe we can brainstorm some innovative ideas in terms of Robot Design and Robot Game and bring them to life.
