How to deal with loss, and why appreciation is so important

Some of us feel extremely exhausted after our FLL day, and are excited to receive an award at the awards/closing ceremony. Then, suddenly we find out we do! Yay! We celebrate, and go home.

Now, imagine the case of what happens when an award you expected to receive went into someone else’s hands. How would you feel? Annoyed? Grief? Wasted? These are all negative feelings, and are pretty normal when associated with loss.

However, it is absolutely unacceptable to demonstrate your negative emotions towards your teammates.

Pointing fingers towards your teammates is not the way to go. Before telling others what they did wrong, think first: Did I do anything wrong? Was there a fault that I did not consider?

Not only does this make you a bad teammate, but also, in the end, if you’re wrong, then you just get embarrassed for no reason. Being a good teammate and practicing is also important as it grants life skills for the long run. Teammates are meant to have each other’s backs, not push them aside when you lose.

Be a nice teammate. Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow.
