Hello World! Respecting our land is a big part, and a lot of information will come in the next blog.

When I look at Aboriginal art and writings, the word ‘country’ felt like a big part to Australia. After some research, and visits to defferent museums, country really meant ‘home’. It was consist of lands, water, and nature. Our land also has a great population of/ on everything alive like people, plants, and animals. It’s about seasons, stories, and spirits. ‘Country’ is not just any continent or place to live, it’s “home” to us and everyone.

When visiting places, lots of paintings were eye-catching and hard to look away at. And what did we do. Opposite of ignoring, researching!

This is every information I could find possible.

This piece of art, “Objectified” is an exhibition of First Nations artists curated by Blak Douglas with works from the Macquarie University Art Collection.

Blak Douglas, also known as Adam Douglas Hill, is an Australian artist. Born in 1970, he paints colorful pictures, especially the artwork above, to tell stories. Blak Douglas was and still is from the Wiradjuri people and uses art to share their stories. He cares about Wiradjuri language, using his paintings to keep the stories alive. Blak Douglas helps protect the Indigenous culture, sharing Wiradjuri stories for the future. Late, in 2022, Blak Douglas got a big prize called the Archibald Prize for his artwork ‘Moby Dickens.’ This shows how talented this guy is, and we respect his artworks.

So what we did, to use the Engineering Design Prosess, fro design to create, is to turn this Masterpiece, into a pixel art made from lego!

For extension, we also tried to use python to turn the artwork into a lego-like pixel art.

We really enjoyed this activity, and we hope this could extend this to other communities!
