Hello World! How to Research, Process, and Communicate your Innovation Project?
While the innovation project is a difficult component of the FLL and requires a lot of research, processing, communication, and innovation, it is actually not as difficult as it may seem. Let me show you!
Research
In order to research your topic, you may want to look up some experts in the field, such as a person that works there or has previous experience. Also it helps to even just google the topic and go into a site for further insight. Some good sites with much information about lots of different topics include:
With detailed information about many different potential ideas for Masterpiece. It is also good to collect opinions from other teams or individuals, as the definition of “Masterpiece” can be quite subjective.
Processing
Processing is the stage in the process where the information is transferred to the presentation medium. This could be Google Slides, PowerPoint, Canva, normal paper, Freeform, and many other platforms!
During this process, the designing and transitioning should also be taken into account, to allow for the judges to be thoroughly engaged and connected with your presentation and topic.
Communicating
Regarded by our team as the most important component in the FLL Innovation Project. Not only is the final presentation the most important, the way you present it also affects the judges’ impressions. For example, making a white-slided presentation on Powerpoint and just reading off the slides will probably get you marked down for your “communication” factor. (In the marking rubric and engineering design process.)
