WHAT IS CORE VALUES (PART 1)

Hello World! The core values of the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition must have teamwork, cooperation, and a positive attitude. FLL promotes inclusion and collaboration, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate and contribute. Being a part of a team means working together and collaborating, not standing there when judges come and talk to you. The official FLL website has written what the core values are;
- Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
- Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
- Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
- Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
- Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
- Fun: We enjoy and celebrate what we do!
Without these, FLL does not deserve to be a competition as core values are an essential part of the rules.
IMPACT
For short, we apply what we learn to improve the world. But that isn’t really what impact means. Impact is an essential core value out of the 6, but it is also quite a challenging one. Impact means making the world a better place after doing something about it and making sure we do the right thing. For example, if you see a piece of rubbish wandering around school or your local community, would you stare or would you just pick it up and throw it in the bin? I would pick the second one. Even doing the smallest of things can stop the world turning into a junkyard in 2035.
INCLUSION
Inclusion- what is it? I am certain that in one part of your own life, you have felt left out or lonely. Now, this is for everyone from 3 years at preschool or even to 16 years in high school, and it is completely normal. But what does that have to do with inclusion? Inclusion almost has the word include in it. In FLL (First Lego League), the rules clearly state that you must respect each other and embrace our differences. That way, you will earn more points for core values and not only make your relationship friendlier, but engage more.
TEAMWORK
WE ARE STRONGER WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER!!! Sorry. But don’t you think that statement is true? Who would want to be alone in a group? One of FLL (First Lego League) rules is that your group has to be between 2-10 people! You will be unstoppable if you’re in a group instead of being by yourself. Personal growth is shown there.
